Summary

The artificial intelligence of the movies thinks for itself and has self-awareness, but what we face now is ‘weak AI’ specialized for particular problems. Starting from this distinction, the article calmly examines the changes AI will bring to the workplace. Repetitive tasks are likely to be automated in simple labor and professional work alike; in HR, AI has begun to be used in hiring, job placement, career development, and performance evaluation, and in education and training, in virtual reality and intelligent learning support systems. The author, however, holds that AI can hardly replace people entirely, because it learns from evaluations that people made in the past and can therefore learn their subjectivity and prejudice as well. The article therefore proposes setting aside both excessive expectation and excessive worry and looking at the change with a cool head.
